If you want to become more effective in your day job, even if you work in a traditional office with a traditional hierarchical structure, you must be able to interact with others. People go to work to be able to perform their work. Sometimes they are told what to do, other times they are encouraged to move beyond what they are already capable of doing.
In common he observed the following
In a work environment in which the manager’s primary interactions with his subordinates are conducted through delegation, presence of authority, feedback, and counseling the outcomes are obtaining much performance producer and effective. This power game causes people to become confused and stuffy, and they develop a negative perception of authority. Their view of leadership is very skewed. If they feel that the leader does not have any real authority they raise their voice, refuse to work to do a job that they are instructed to, valuable individuals tend to leave the company. Work-related frustration always follows.
In this place of interaction, you must have the ability to make a distance with what the leader is communicating. Feedback, counseling is important. Focusing on specific individuals within the organization as the right persons that can make sure they are consistent with what they are being told is also important. If your role in the organization looks like that of a messenger or courier, you will have different reactions than if you are a broke and starving kid. The best bet is to change the emphasis. You may also want to consider that not all people are created equal, some of us are smarter and more engaging.
People are given everything they need to be able to do their work. Clients are smart as well, and they realize that there are no special tricks to succeed in business. They are consumers, so the opportunity for financial investments no longer drives them. Although there are many ways of being effective in business, it has to be understood that people are in a position to make contributions to the work climate, which is of benefit to a company.
The following list outlines what a leader must do
- The leader must communicate, communicate, communicate with associates. Being concise, clear, and direct does not serve to lead people. The leader should constantly communicate the vision, work goals, and goals of the organization. Walking around, watching, and being an observer only distracts.
- The leader must have the capability to put themselves in the employee’s shoes. The leader must suspend their own needs for status or recognition or whatever it takes for the success of the team.
- The leader must have patience and understanding. A leader must have trust and faith in the ability and mature skills necessary to create people and a productive work environment.
- The leader must be fired, not promoted. It is very difficult to lead, motivate, and inspire others, whether the people are nods of appreciation or a case of taking a high risk and being a hero if the leader is in such a position of leadership, then they have stopped learning, must have lost their moral compass, or have psychological issues which are impacting the ability to lead others.
